What is CoolMini?
CoolMini is a brand-new CoolSculpting applicator specifically designed to treat small areas of submental fat (under the chin). It can be used not only to reduce the appearance of a double chin but also to reduce other hard-to-treat areas, such as the knees or armpits. Before CoolMini, these areas were very difficult to treat non-invasively, but now they can be reduced in an hour with minimal discomfort and downtime.
CoolMini uses the same proven effective proprietary fat-freezing technology developed and well-established by CoolSculpting. “Cryolipolysis” freezes fat cells without damaging surrounding tissue, with an initial reduction of about 20%. Multiple sessions may be needed for full results, depending on how much of a reduction you want to see. Sessions should be spaced about 2-3 months apart, to allow all of the frozen fat cells to be naturally eliminated by the body.
What is a CoolMini Treatment Like?
During a CoolMini treatment, the applicator will be placed on the area of the body to be treated, after which the patient is free to relax and do whatever they want for the hour that the procedure takes. Many patients like to watch movies, read books, take a nap, or do work. During a double chin treatment, patients lay still on the headrest and watch TV or listen to music. CoolMini is not usually painful; there will be an initial sensation of deep cold and suction, after which the area will become numb. There is no downtime required following a procedure. Patients are free to resume their everyday activities immediately afterward!
Common side effects of CoolMini include temporary swelling, redness, or numbness. These should resolve on their own anywhere from a day to a week following the procedure.
