The Maryland Dermatology Laser, Skin and Vein Institute was founded by national leaders in cosmetic dermatology and dermatologic surgery. The Institute provides the most innovative and effective treatments in the world for aging or sun-damaged skin, acne, varicose veins, face wrinkles, scars, unwanted body fat or unwanted hair. The Institute is a leader in physician education. Each physician has passed rigorous examinations to become board certified in dermatology. Each physician actively engages in national and international medical societies. Dr. Robert Weiss currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology and is a Past President of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and a previous Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Margaret Weiss is also a faculty member in Dermatology at the University of Maryland, and a current member of the Board of Directors of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Margaret Weiss began practicing dermatology in 1982, with Dr. Robert Weiss joining her in 1984 after his research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. Partner Karen Beasley, M.D. joined the practice in 2000, Dr. Christian Halvorson joined in 2014, and Dr. Claire Noell joined in 2019.
Our practice also includes a team of licensed nurse practitioners and physician assistants to assist in providing the highest quality care. We specialize in anti-aging cosmetic procedures including BOTOX® Cosmetic, laser resurfacing, skin tightening, microdermabrasion, and filler injection. More than thirty lasers and light-based devices are used at the Institute, comprising one of the largest collections of such devices in the world. Drs. Weiss & Beasley are actively involved in the research and development of the latest noninvasive antiaging procedures to treat varicose and spider veins.
