What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy, previously known as Ulthera, is a non-invasive, non-surgical lifting procedure with no downtime designed to restore sagging, lax skin on the face and neck to a firm, youthful state. Ultherapy is FDA approved for non-invasive eyebrow lifting and newly approved for the treatment of loose skin on the neck and under the chin, reducing the appearance of drooping or “crepey” neck skin.
Ultherapy cleared for Décolletage Treatment of lines and wrinkles on the chest
Ultherapy is now FDA-cleared to non-invasively treat the chest to improve lines and wrinkles on the décolleté. Ultherapy is now the only non-invasive procedure specifically indicated by the FDA to improve lines and wrinkles on the chest. This safe ultrasound treatment stimulates the body’s natural collagen production to reduce signs of aging.*
Benefits of Ultherapy include:
- No downtime
- FDA approved
The dermatologists at the Maryland Dermatology Laser, Skin, and Vein Institute have been safely performing Ultherapy treatments since 2010.
How does Ultherapy work?
The Ultherapy device uses sound waves targeted beneath the skin to gently heat, tighten and lift the skin, creating a younger, firmer look. And because Ultherapy uses ultrasound, the surface skin is left undisturbed. In addition to the initial lifting, Ultherapy also prompts the body to generate new collagen, restoring skin over time to an even more youthful appearance and texture.

Ultherapy can help to lift brows and give eyes a wider, fresher look, and the Ultherapy treatment generally takes between 30 and 60 minutes – and usually only one treatment! Results appear gradually over the course of two to three months, ensuring that there are no sudden dramatic changes to how you look, but rather a gradual tightening that looks entirely natural.
How does Ultherapy differ from laser treatments?
Lasers typically treat issues in the superficial layers of the skin, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and acne. Ultherapy treats the deep skin layer and foundation layer to lift and tighten the skin. Laser treatments can be used in addition to Ultherapy to address surface issues on the skin.
