Dr. Robert Weiss, of Maryland dermatological practice MDLSV, and past president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, is now offering Coolsculpting by Zeltiq to treat unwanted fat deposits safely without damaging skin.

Dr. Robert Weiss was recently featured on Baltimore news channel WBAL-TV to discuss Coolsculpting by Zeltiq, a new liposculpture technique that revolutionizes the way that fat deposits can be treated. This non-surgical procedure can reduce fat deposits by 20-40% over a period of 4 months with one or more treatments. The procedure does not carry the same risks and downtime that traditional liposuction does, though final fat losses may be more or less, depending upon the case.

Coolsculpting by Zeltiq was recently cleared by the FDA for treatment of fat deposits through cryotherapy. The process is nearly painless, and has no recovery time. According to Dr. Weiss, “The principle is that you can chill fat and get it to dissolve at a temperature that doesn’t injure the skin at all.” While the procedure has been used successfully in Europe, this FDA approval marks the beginning of Zeltiq use in the United States.

Dr. Weiss, Director of the Maryland Dermatology Laser Skin and Vein Institute, is one of America’s foremost dermatologists, and a past president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. As an authority on dermatology, cosmetic dermatology surgery, laser medicine, and liposculpture, Dr. Weiss has been featured on national news programs such as 20/20 and The Today Show. Dr. Weiss was an investigator in clinical trials leading to the development of the Zeltiq Coolsculpting technology.
