The Active FX™ with Lumenis Ultrapulse Encore is the latest advance in minimal-downtime fractional CO2 skin resurfacing for wrinkles, sun damage, scars, and pigmentation. The face, neck, chest, arms, and hands can safely be treated. The effects are usually dramatic, with skin tightening, reduction of wrinkles and fine lines, improved skin tone and texture, and plumping of the skin with new collagen over time. An anesthetic cream is used before the one-time treatment, and most patients say they feel warmth similar to a sunburn. Treating the face takes less than 30 minutes. Patients can drive themselves home. A gentle washing and moisturizing routine should be followed. Five days is usually all it takes for the redness and roughness from the treatment to fade.
