What is Dysport?

An alternative to Botox, Dysport is available to treat moderate to severe fine lines and wrinkles. Dysport is provided by Medicis, but has similar advantages to Botox. Dysport is an injectable wrinkle treatment made from a neurotoxin known as botulinum toxin type A, the same neurotoxin found in Botox injections. Just as with Botox, there is no downtime for the procedure and it only requires a quick, in-office visit. The muscle relaxer Dysport is expected to be just as effective as BOTOX. Studies are underway to test the effectiveness of Dysport in patients who have developed a resistance to BOTOX.

How It Works

Dysport is injected into the muscles of the treatment area causing them to relax. This temporary treatment causes a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles and can make the skin appear smoother. Typically Dysport requires fewer injections than Botox to achieve the same results.

FAQs

How long does treatment last?

Dysport treatments can last up to a year, varying for each patient, and are broken down by the body more slowly than Botox injections. Results typically appear within one to seven days from the initial treatment session. Treatments can be repeated to maintain the desired anti-aging effects.

What are the side effects of Dysport?

Any side effects caused by Dysport are usually minor, such as headache, and resolve within a few days. Patients should consult their doctor if troubling side effects persist.
