Pharos

Maryland Dermatology Laser Skin & Vein now offers Pharos, a powerful single-wavelength, ultraviolet-B excimer laser. This laser is FDA-approved to treat a variety of chronic skin diseases such as vitiligo. Pharos does not use heat and does not ablate lesions, which makes treatments virtually painless for patients.

Pharos is used to treat the following chronic skin diseases:

  • Psoriasis
  • Vitiligo
  • Atopic Dermatitis
  • Leukoderma

Pharos has an integrated handpiece that features an adjustable spot size and aiming beam which offers a continuous beam that is adjustable from a large square to a small circle to accurately target the affected tissue. This sets Pharos apart from other photo and light therapies because it allows our providers to spare the healthy tissue surrounding the affected areas from exposure to ultraviolet light making the treatment faster and safer.
