Sun DamageExcessive exposure to the sun makes a person look older than he/she really is. Premature wrinkling and skin damage from sun exposure is also called photoaging. Photoaging, unlike natural aging, results in coarse, dry skin, freckling and blotchy brown pigmentation, skin discoloration, enlarged blood vessels, leathery skin, and deep wrinkles. Fortunately, many treatments can help. Photorejuvenation is the term we use for this process, using the energy of light to stimulate collagen, shrink vessels, and lighten pigment. Intense pulsed light (IPL) and lasers help to improve sun damage. Topical creams also make a big difference. The HydraFacial and chemical peels, including PCA and Advance Corrective Peels, can help as well.
