Restylane for Lips® greater baltimore area
In October of 2011, the FDA extended the approved uses of Restylane to include lip augmentation. Drs. Weiss and Beasley were one of the 12 sites to conduct the study which led to this approval. Dr. Robert Weiss was also a key presenter at the FDA Panel hearing conducted in April 2011 reviewing the patient data and background use of fillers around the world. Several patients in the study reported that the sensation of heat and cold was enhanced after their lips were restored to their normal size. The image of a lip restored to normal volume is seen here, no need for duck lips! This is an actual patient treated at MDLSV. To read the press release, click here.
Restylane® and Perlane® are safe and natural cosmetic dermal fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial (nose to mouth) folds. They can be used in other areas of the face as well to: restore lips, correct lip lines, restore cheeks, soften jowls, and can even help improve sagging. Restylane® was the first FDA-approved cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid. Perlane® is a larger version of the same molecule suitable for correction of deeper defects.
